Vegan in Malta
We love Malta! The main island, in particular, has a lot to offer vegans. And Gozo is a haven for burger aficionados.

Malta
Valletta
Vegan Platter and Piadina Michelle at Rootz in Valletta.
Pita Falafel at Falafel Street Lebanese Kebab and Grill in Valletta. They have so many vegan options!
Bowl Job at Elephant Shoe in Valletta. Super queer-friendly place with a few vegan options!
Sweet Chick Bowl at eeetwell in Valletta.
Gelato at Tiffany’s Gelateria in Valletta. Their cones are vegan!
Brownie at Charles&Ron Café in Valletta. It’s owned by a queer couple who are actually fashion designers and they have a few vegan cakes!
Vegan Snickers cake at De Bono Coffee Shop in Valetta. The energy ball is delicious too! They have a lot of different vegan (and gluten-free!) cakes and snacks like hot dogs and zapiekanka (Polish pizza).
Malta
The Main Island
Loaded Sweet Potato Fries at Balance Bowl in Gżira. Carina had the Crispy Baby Potatoes which were delicious as well. Might be the only completely vegan place in Malta!
Sweet Chick Bowl at eeetwell in Gzira.
Pane e Panelle at Penzalapanza in San Ġwann. This is one of my favorite street foods and Penzalapanza didn’t disappoint! Incredibly friendly service and the best 80s classic music.
A box of rice noodles at Noodle Box in Sliema. Tell them you are vegan beforehand—egg is usually added to all noodle boxes.
Palak Aloo with Tandoori Roti and Saffron Rice at Garam Tikka Masala in Birgu. They had quite a lot of vegan options and you can choose your spice level!
Beans on Toast with vegan cheese at The Bakery Shop in Paola. Wasn’t sure if I should include it as it doesn’t look appetizing, but actually was quite tasty.
Vegan Ftira at Chalk in Rabat (don’t confuse it with Rabat/Victoria in Gozo!). Ftira is a traditional Maltese bread, filled with various ingredients.
Pizza Daphne at Manouche Craft Bakery & Bistro in Marsaxlokk. They had two vegan items on their menu.
Vegan (custom) pizza at Singita on Għajn Tuffieħa—the only restaurant on this beautiful beach. They have several, clearly marked vegan dishes.

Gozo
The Relaxed One
Vegetable Burger at Café Reale in Xagħra. They have a few vegan options!
Vegetable Burger at Rose's at Ramla Beach. Did I want another burger? Not really. But was really surprised they actually have vegan options!
Everything at L’Aremi in Nadur. We were able to eat here because we had booked our accommodation with them. It’s a lovely B&B, but the food alone makes staying here a must!
Beyond Burger (yes, again!) at Del Capo in Nadur. Without bun and sauce since these aren’t vegan. Might have been nice if the food wasn’t cold. (In all fairness, they did offer to warm up my food. Microwaved fries didn’t sound too appealing, though.) Obviously, this is more of an ‘if you are desperate’ recommendation.
Did I find something else than a burger? I did! Vegetarian Ftira (which actually is vegan) from
Maxokk Bakery in Nadur. This is a very popular takeout place! Which also meant: preordered three hours in advance, arrived ahead of time, and got our food 70 minutes later than expected.
Bruschetta at Bistro 23four in Victoria (Rabat).
Gelato at La Cremeria Gelateria Gozo and at Vanilla+ in Victoria. You can never go wrong with gelato!
Burger at FRONT in Gostra, Il-Munxar. You can customize your burger from patty to sauces!
