Vegan in Spain

Spain isn't always the easiest place to be vegan, but Málaga was a dream!

Málaga & Mijas Pueblo

Vegan tapas at La Vegana Centro in Málaga. Everything is vegan here and it was such a great treat since most tapas are usually not. Reservations are highly recommended—a few minutes after they opened, they were packed! Plus: a very queer-friendly place in a queer neighborhood!

We shared Mushrooms in Pil Pil, Vegan Mix, and vegan Pistachio Cake at El Vegetariano Alcazabilla in Málaga. This vegetarian restaurant has a lot of vegan options!

Arepa and sweet potato fries at Recyclo Bike Café and Shop in Málaga. They cater to omnivores, but have a separate vegan menu! And the restaurant is located in a bicycle repair shop!

Tacos at TKO TACOS in Málaga. They have two vegan tacos and can veganize a third.

Red Vegan at BRUNCHIT in Málaga—this is a chain in Spain (and Portugal) with a few vegan options.

Avocado toast at Sentir Café in Málaga. They also have an English menu, vegan dishes are clearly marked, and substituting with plant-based milks is free.

Doughnuts at Bun and Coffee in Málaga. We had Pistacho Praline, S’more, Chocolate, and Glaseado Original. All were so good—and all their doughnuts are vegan!

Sandwich vegetariano (which actually is vegan) at coffee art in Mijas Pueblo.

Barcelona

So, our Barcelona trip was years ago, in November 2021, but we do remember that we enjoyed Teresa Carles so much that we went twice. And we were particularly excited about their vegan bombas de la Barceloneta and desserts!

Sagrada Família in Barcelona.

Mallorca

Sóller, Fornalutx, and Palma

Paella Vegetal at Sa Granja in Sóller. Very delicious, fabulous service, and you should get the Sangrias—loved all of them!

Artichoke flowers with romesco sauce and veggie pulled tacos at Bar Bosch Sóller. Very touristy and pricy (and no drinks menu, so no transparency), but beautiful views!

Chickpea palak and chickpeas with potatoes with rice, roti, and papadam, and samosa (not shown) at The Red Fort II in Sóller.

Rustic Farmer’s Bread with Avocado, cherry tomatoes, and arugula at El Petit in Sóller. They have quite a few vegan options!

Sangria (tinto) and bread (SO delicious) with olives at Bar Deportivo in Fornalutx. The best Sangria we had and wonderful people!

Vegan empanadas at Las Muns in Palma.

Vegan tapas at Bar Espanya in Palma. Be aware that the symbols in the menu aren’t always correct, but the service was very nice and helpful!
