Vegan in the US

Being vegan in the US is easy—if you are in an urban area. The more rural areas were challenging at times. But it is doable!

Ohio

Dayton, Yellow Springs, and Columbus

World Famous Breakfast at The Ugly Duckling in Dayton. This is a dish with all the breakfast staples! And you’ll get a cool diner experience.

Dandan Mian, Yansu Mushrooms, and Hummus at MAZU in Yellow Springs. This vegan restaurant is a gem!

 

You’re my boy blue at 4th & State in Columbus. This is an all vegan restaurant with all the typical staples!

Mushroom (hot sandwich) at Tony & Pete’s in Dayton; Carina had the Vegan Cold Cut. Both were delicious and the place is cool!

Walnut Mushroom Tacos at Vegan It IZ Eats at 2nd Street Market in Dayton.

Vegan ice-cream and sorbet at Ben & Jerry’s in Dayton.

Tennessee

Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, and Dollywood

Custom pizza with vegan cheese at Mellow Mushroom in Pigeon Forge.

Veggie tacos at Loco Burro Fresh Mex Cantina in Gatlinburg.

Vegan pizza and vegan corn dogs and fries at Dollywood. I had zero expectations here, but I was positively surprised!

Kentucky

Lexington & on the road

Hummus Vegan (grilled) at third street stuff and coffee. This is such a cool and inclusive place!

Hummus Plate and fries with pepper mustard sauce at Little Fork at Wise Bird Cider (I spotted a little Pride flag!). And consumed at The Break Room next door—a wonderful queer-friendly bar.

Chana Masala at Tandoor Fine Dining Indian Restaurant.

Bonus: Avocado Toast & Hash Browns at IHOP somewhere in Kentucky.
